In New Jersey, individuals aged 21 and older with a documented developmental disability that began before age 22 are eligible for DDD services. Eligibility also requires that the individual needs substantial support with daily living activities, and they must meet specific functional and financial criteria set by the state.

In New Jersey, caregivers for individuals with developmental disabilities can include family members, such as parents, siblings, and other relatives, as well as friends or professional support staff. To be eligible, caregivers must meet certain requirements set by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and often need to go through a DDD-approved agency. This allows family members and trusted individuals to provide care while being fairly compensated for their support.

The amount you’ll be paid to provide care depends on various factors, including the specific needs of the individual and the compensation rates set by the DDD-approved agency you work with. At Your Choice Home Care, we offer some of the highest pay rates for caregivers in New Jersey, along with comprehensive benefits like health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off. Contact us to learn more about our competitive compensation packages and how we can support you as a caregiver.

YES. At this time, the program is only for Medicaid recipients. If you think your loved one may be eligible for Medicaid but they do not currently have it, please call us and we can assist you further.

No, only the customer who is receiving care must have Medicaid to be eligible.

Caregivers provide a wide range of activities to support individuals with developmental disabilities, focusing on promoting independence and quality of life. These activities often include personal care (such as bathing, dressing, and grooming), meal preparation, medication reminders, and assistance with mobility. Caregivers may also help with daily household tasks, transportation to appointments, and engaging the individual in social and recreational activities. Through these supports, caregivers ensure that their loved ones or clients receive compassionate, reliable care tailored to their unique needs.
